🕺Aerial – Let’s get high!
🔹 What is an Aerial Workshop?
An aerials workshop is a special type of swing dance class focused on learning partnered lifts, jumps, and acrobatic moves — the kind that make jaws drop and dancers fly! In swing dance, aerials are those spectacular moments where one partner is lifted or launched into the air, usually in time with the music. They were made famous by the original Lindy Hoppers in the 1930s, and they’re still used today in shows, jam circles, competitions — and for pure fun!
✅ Aerials (Sunday 11:00-14:00)
💥 What to expect:
- Safety first! — how to warm up, support each other, and use spotting techniques
- Fundamental aerials — like the frog jump, candlestick, or shoulder sit
- Proper technique for both base and flyer
- Smooth entrances and exits for social or performance use
- Timing, trust, and communication — the key to any successful aerial
⚠️ Important Notes and Requirements:
- This workshop is open level: include people with no aerial experience or some experience
- Aerials are not normally done in social dancing — they’re for performances, jam circles, and special moments 🙂
- You’ll need to register with a partner — no rotation in aerial classes
- Some basic dance experience and physical readiness is recommended
- All aerials will be taught progressively and safely
An open level aerials workshop is designed to be accessible to dancers with varied levels of experience, as long as some basic prerequisites are met — especially for safety.
