The Blues Dance

You probably know blues music, but there’s a rich dance history attached with the music as well. Blues is a style of dance that is known for its improvisational nature and emotive qualities. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the steps and movements necessary to bring this dynamic dance to life.

We offer open level classes for dancers of all levels. Our dance classes are focused on the fundamentals of Blues Dancing, including the asymmetry of movements, the use of bent limbs and torso, and the importance of rhythm and pulse. We also emphasize the importance of dancing behind the beat, which is a key characteristic of the Blues style.

Our Blues Teachers

Wlasta (Russia) and Wolfgang (Germany) are a lovely dancing couple, that have been dancing for almost 20 years together. They are super friendly and the the right blues teachers to guide you through each step of the learning process, helping you to develop your own unique blues style and posture technique. They will also teach you how to move with emotion and a bit of drama <3 It will be also important to explore how to create a connection with your partner, that goes beyond just the physical.

Blues dancing is a collection of dances and movements that grew out of the African-American / Black community and were danced to blues music. As blues music can trace it’s origins to the American South, these dances follow the same lineage. Various styles grew depending on the area one grew up in and matched the music that predominately played in a region.
